Why This Project Matters To Me

As soon as I heard about the final show, I knew exactly what I wanted to produce. Not so much what or how I wanted to produce it but I certainly knew that it would be surrounding the "Praise of Engineers" theme. 

I have wanted to push this body of work forward for a long time, finding it hard to find the time, this assignment gives me the perfect opportunity. I have the idea in my head but I know that what I want to achieve will take time for me to get the impacting body of work out at the end. 

"Having worked on and off in the metalwork industry for over 7 years, I have seen the craftsmanship and skill of talented individuals which is sadly declining within this ever industrialising world that we live in. This is what has sparked my interest in photographing such subjects, and the praise of the craftsmen who are still utilising these age-old techniques." - Taken from my introduction from my research proposal, this statement would be along the same lines of what I will have printed and mounted at the beginning of my final show, to give the viewer an insight into the work that they will be looking at. 

Another piece of text that really helps to sum up my idea is below.

"Through my experience in the metal working industry over the last 7 years, I began to appreciate the skills and techniques that have been passed down through generations. The remaining forges that still utilise these techniques are sadly declining due to more and more products being imported. This set of photographs is an on going project which aims to praise these talented engineers for their craftsmanship and love for the work they produce. "

I decided to select these two pieces of text because I believe that these sum up this project and keeping this fresh in my head will enable me to keep on track throughout. I will keep reverting back to these pieces of text in order to keep my project running smoothly and so that the final photographs will be as impacting as I envision them.

From the above information, I hope that I am able to really put across how much this project means to me, I have grew up with a first hand insight into this industry and now it is time for me to pick out and highlight these talented people. This project will be very very enjoyable!
